Not sure if this is the same feeling happening, but there are times when I am doing something that very seriously seems like both I HAVE FOR SURE DONE THIS and also I HAVEN’T EVER DONE THIS at the same time. Most of my self diagnosed explanation has been that I have had dreams about it or something similar before it actually happened. Kinda trippy.

Just received that ohhh so soft timesuck T-shirt. This was a good timesuck, definitely see why you postponed doing it for so long; lots of weird rabbit holes to chase and just odd happenings. Great episode! I had a little Mandela Effect fun of my own in the mid-2000s, when I convinced my mom we had watched a completely fictitious movie (similar to Open Water, but legally distinct.) Admittedly, she doesn’t have the greatest memory, but my insistence and a few key plot details got the ball rolling. This came back to bite me in the ass, as no matter how much detail I can provide, I cannot now convince her that we saw Holy Motors together, nor that it is a real film. Hell, I’m not totally convinced it’s real.

I really loved this episode. I’m super duper into psychological stuff. I’ve read quite a bit on using body language and mimicry to create empathy in others. I used the Mandela effect against my cousin immediately after listening to this. He now clearly remembers me talking to him about my new job the day I got it. I totally didn’t. I honestly could not explain how incredible I thought this podcast was. I had heard minor amounts of the research that you went through but holy shit I did not realize how deep this whole created memory thing went. Holy hell. The Sinbad thing fucked me up for a minute. However I am very good at unwinding my own mental knots. I realized that after much heavy thought that the movie I was transplanting Sinbad into was a movie call Bernard and the Genie. Which starred who bears only a passing resemblance to the comedian. However in the ether of my youth I had always associated Sinbad with this film. Anyone else? Awesome episode though.
